Darbhanga: Kharmas has special importance in Sanatan Dharma. This year this period is starting from 16 December 2025 and will continue till 15 January 2026. During this period, there is a ban on doing any kind of auspicious work. According to the scriptures, one should avoid doing auspicious work during this period. During this time, no auspicious work like marriage or upanayana, house warming or house initiation is done.
Any good work, any big purchase is not considered good during this period. This is what the scholars of the scriptures say. Kharmas period
The period of Kharmas will be from 16 December 2025 to 15 January 2026. During this period, no auspicious work will be done, like marriage, upanayana, Duragamana, housewarming, housewarming etc. People do not do any good work during this period and wait for these days to end.
Why are auspicious works not done?
According to the scriptures, one should avoid doing auspicious work during the period of Kharmas. The auspicious work done at this time does not yield results and this may bring problems in life. This is the reason why in the scriptures any kind of auspicious work is stopped in this month. So now all types of auspicious works have been banned from 16 December 2025 to 15 January 2026. Then as soon as this period ends, all kinds of auspicious works will start on the basis of auspicious dedication. People will get auspicious time and then do auspicious work.
When will the auspicious work start?
The period of Kharmas will last till 16 January 2026. After this, auspicious works can be started from 16 January 2026. Magh Gupt Navratri will start from January 19, but the impure time will last till January 27. Shuddha will start after 28th January, after which auspicious works like marriage etc. will start.
