After John Giannandrea leaves the post at Apple, Amar Subramaniam will take over the post of Vice President of AI. Amar was earlier in Microsoft and Google. Explaining this, the Apple company said that Amar’s deep understanding of AI and machine learning research and long experience of integrating it into products and features will be very useful for Apple’s new innovations and upcoming Apple Intelligence features.
Apple recently gave a big news. The company said that its Senior Vice President of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence Strategy, John Giannandrea, is leaving his post. Now he will help the company as an advisor and he will retire in 2026. Apple also informed that famous AI researcher Amar Subramaniam has joined the company as Vice President of AI and he will report directly to Craig Federighi.
Amar Subramanya will now take charge of important parts like Apple Foundation Models, ML Research and AI Safety and Evaluation. Amar Subramaniam was previously at Microsoft where he was the Corporate Vice President of AI. Before that, he worked at Google for 16 years and was also the engineering head of Gemini Assistant there. According to Hindustan Times report, Apple company while explaining this said that Amar’s deep understanding of AI and machine learning research and long experience of integrating it into products and features will be very useful for Apple’s new innovations and upcoming Apple Intelligence features.
Amar Subramanya earned name in tech industry
Amar Subramanya obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Bangalore University and after this he worked in the tech industry for many years. Amar Subramanya has worked at Google for 16 years. According to a report in the Financial Times, Amar is among the 24 engineers, researchers, and product specialists whom Microsoft hired from Google. Amar had also written in his LinkedIn post of July 1 that he is very excited to make a new beginning as Corporate VP, AI at Microsoft. In just one week, the energy and work culture of this company gave me new freshness. The atmosphere here is egoless but full of ambition.
John Giannandrea played a big role in the company
Since joining Apple in 2018, John Giannandrea has played a big role in the company’s AI and machine learning strategy. He created the world’s best team and by leading it, developed and used many important AI technologies. Currently, his team is handling important tasks like Apple Foundation Models, Search and Knowledge, Machine Learning Research and AI infrastructure, that is, the basis of Apple’s entire AI has been in their hands.
