Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai met Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Chirag Paswan and made several big proposals to transform the food processing sector of the state. The Chief Minister said that food processing has been given special priority in the new industrial policy and Drools’ investment of Rs 1000 crore will give new energy to industry and employment in the state.
Raipur. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai met Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Chirag Paswan on Monday and discussed many important issues related to food security and food processing sector of the state. Food processing has been given special priority in the new industrial policy and Drools’ investment of Rs 1000 crore will give new energy to industry and employment in Chhattisgarh. The Chief Minister said that Chhattisgarh is one of the leading states in the country in terms of agricultural production, especially paddy, fruits and vegetables, but there is still a need for large-scale investment and facilities in the field of food technology and processing.
Chirag Paswan showed a positive attitude towards this demand of the Chief Minister and said that the Ministry will provide all possible support and will seriously consider this issue. The Chief Minister also demanded to organize a regional summit of World Food India in Raipur. He said that this event will give a national platform to the traditional dishes, local products and emerging food startups of Chhattisgarh and will attract big companies for investment.
Help to reach bigger market
CM Sai said that there is a need for a food testing lab and food irradiation unit in the state, for which the Centre’s assistance will be important. He said that these facilities will ensure the quality and safety of food products and will help farmers and entrepreneurs to reach the bigger market.
Investment of Rs 1000 crore in Chhattisgarh
In the meeting, the Chief Minister also informed that special priority has been given to the food processing sector in the new industrial policy. Under this policy, Drools company is investing Rs 1000 crore in Chhattisgarh, which will create about 3000 jobs. He said that the state aims to soon become the major Rice Bran Oil Hub of the country, which will reduce dependence on imports and local farmers will get direct benefits.
