Mumbai International Airport News: Mumbai Airport Customs, in a major action on the intervening night of December 10 and 11, has seized a total of 42.898 kg of hydroponic weed from five passengers coming from Bangkok. The team of Airport Commissionerate of Mumbai Customs Zone-3 took this action in four different cases on the basis of secret information and profiling. The value of the recovered banned drugs in the international illegal market is estimated to be crores of rupees. Let us tell you that the responsibility of airport security mainly rests on the shoulders of CISF, but according to the report, other agencies are also present at the airports.
According to Customs, based on profiling, a total of 33.888 kg of suspected NDPS substance, i.e. hydroponic weed, was seized from three passengers in three separate cases. Its price is said to be around Rs 33.888 crore. The three passengers had reached Mumbai from Bangkok via different flights. Based on interrogation and evidence, he was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
Stirred by swift action
Apart from this, based on special intelligence, action was taken against another group of passengers, in which a total of 9.010 kg of hydroponic weed was recovered from two passengers. Its price was estimated to be around Rs 9.010 crore. These two passengers had reached Mumbai from Bangkok by Thai Airways flight. Customs officials have also arrested him under the NDPS Act and started further investigation. This continuous successful action of Mumbai Customs has dealt another major blow to the international drug smuggling network. Officials say that the vigilance campaign will be made more stringent to stop drug smuggling.
Drugs have been recovered earlier also
Earlier, between November 25 and December 3, a large quantity of drugs were recovered at Mumbai Airport. According to Mumbai Customs officials, the value of the seized drugs is more than Rs 25 crore. According to the information, in the NDPS case, a total of 8.682 kg of hydroponic weed was seized from four passengers, the value of which was said to be around Rs 8.682 crore. It was told that all the passengers had come from Bangkok and they were arrested under the NDPS Act, 1985.
