Navi Mumbai. On Wednesday, the police took major action in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai and detained more than 100 suspected Bangladeshi citizens. There are more than 70 women among them, who were working as maids in different houses. According to the information received, the action started at Hyde Park Society of Sector-35 at around 10.30 in the morning. The team arrived with heavy police force and searched every flat and house of the society. Most of the people who were caught had Aadhaar card, but passport, visa or any valid document was not found. Police suspect that all the Aadhaar cards are fake or made wrongly.
The detained people were immediately taken to Kharghar police station. There, a complete inquiry is going on about his age, name and address, when and how he came to India. Police claim that all the people were living in India illegally and most of them had come from Bangladesh. According to a police officer, “We already had input that a large number of Bangladeshi nationals are living in Kharghar and surrounding areas without valid documents. This action is based on that input. We are thoroughly verifying the identity and documents of all of them.”
The police is now also finding out why the landlords and society secretary-members who gave the flats on rent kept these people on rent without getting the police verification done. Soon action may be taken against him also. Police said that after the completion of the investigation, legal action will be taken against all the illegal citizens and the process of deporting them from the country will begin. This action is part of Navi Mumbai Police’s ongoing campaign against illegal immigrants.
