Easy way to get lower berth. If you are a senior citizen and are going to make reservation to travel by train in a group. You know the rule that lower berth is allotted to senior citizens, but when the ticket comes out and you get middle or upper berth then you get worried, because at this age it is difficult to climb into middle or upper berth. This is how you curse the Railways so fiercely. Many times, due to a small mistake, a senior citizen does not get a lower berth. Let us tell you the exact way to get a lower berth.
Railway Ministry’s Executive Director Information and Publicity Dilip Kumar said that in trains, apart from senior citizens (men above 60 years, women above 58 years), there is a combined quota of lower berths for women above 45 years of age, which varies from sleeper to AC class. Under this, on making reservation, senior citizens or women are given lower berths.
The right way to get a lower berth
While booking the senior citizen ticket, one should choose the senior citizen option, only then one will get the benefit. The most important thing with this is that one or two senior citizens can be given lower berth in one PNR i.e. one ticket. If you book tickets for more than two, three or four citizens on one ticket, then you will not get the benefit of this quota. You may get a middle or upper berth.
