Lucknow Metro News: In Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, metro will run till 12 midnight on the occasion of Christmas and New Year. Metro service will be available one and a half hours more than usual. The extended time will be applicable on 25th December and 1st January.

The extended time will be applicable on 25th December and 1st January. Big relief has been given to those going to malls, churches, parks and restaurants. Arrangements have been made for safe travel for those traveling late at night.
There is huge crowd in Lucknow Metro on Christmas
The number of metro passengers has been continuously increasing during Christmas and New Year. In the year 2024, more than 1.70 lakh passengers used the metro on Christmas and New Year. Charbagh, Hazratganj and Alambagh stations were being crowded the most. The decision has been taken to reduce traffic and parking problems. Additional staff will be deployed if needed during Christmas and New Year.
Metro network will be expanded to 225 km in Lucknow
Let us tell you that in many big cities including the capital, metro train has become the lifeline of the city. The process of second phase of metro is also going on in Lucknow. Recently, UPMRC Managing Director Sushil Kumar said that expansion of metro network in Lucknow by 225 kilometers is proposed in future. Sushil Kumar had told that under the future plan, it is proposed to expand the metro network by 225 kilometers in Lucknow, 200 kilometers in Kanpur and 100 kilometers in Agra. Let us tell you that there is a proposal of 50-50 km metro network in Gorakhpur, Bareilly, Moradabad, Jhansi, Ayodhya, Mathura-Vrindavan, Aligarh and Saharanpur. Out of this huge network of total 1575 kilometers, a total investment of about Rs 1527 crore will be required annually in different cities.
UP became the first state of the country
Sushil Kumar also said that Uttar Pradesh has now become the leading state in the country with metro services in 6 cities, making India the third largest metro network in the world and is soon going to become the second largest, leaving America behind. He had also said that Uttar Pradesh is the first state in the country, which has implemented transit-oriented development on a large scale.
