IAS IPS Story: You must have heard many stories of bravery, but this couple is something different. On one hand, there is 2010 batch IAS Yunus Khan, who sweats for hours in the gym, plays guitar, listens to old songs and loves the soldiers so much that he adopted a martyr’s daughter. On the other hand, his wife Anjum Ara is the second Muslim woman IPS officer of the country. Both these officers are youth icons in Himachal.
Passed UPSC in 2010
Yunus Khan is a resident of Malerkotla, Punjab. He passed the Civil Services Examination of Union Public Service Commission in 2010 and is an IAS of the batch. He was the Deputy Commissioner in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. People call him a fitness freak. He works in the gym for hours every day. His hobby is playing guitar and listening to old Hindi songs. It has been said in a report that these days he is posted as Commissioner of State Tax and Excise in Himachal Pradesh.
Wife is the country’s second Muslim woman IPS
Yunus’s wife Anjum Ara is a 2011 batch IPS. She is the second Muslim woman IPS officer in the country. She was first SP in Solan and then SP in Vigilance. Both have a son. Both the officers are considered youth icons in Himachal. The youth are greatly influenced by them.
Martyr’s daughter adopted in 2017
In May 2017, Naib Subedar Paramjit Singh of Tarn Taran, Punjab was martyred in a Pakistani BAT attack in Poonch sector. His body was also mutilated. When Yunus and Anjum got this news, both of them reached the martyr’s village Vanpoin. Going there, we adopted martyr’s younger daughter Khushdeep and announced that we would bear the entire expenses of Khushdeep’s education and career. It is our responsibility to fulfill his dream of becoming a doctor, engineer or joining civil services.
Diwali with soldiers
In 2023, Yunus Khan and Anjum Ara celebrated Diwali with the soldiers at Longewala Post. Before this, Yunus had also visited Siachen, the world’s highest battlefield, and met the soldiers there. Yunus Khan is always in the news because of his working style.
