Ingredients for making Palak Chilla
Fresh Spinach: 1 cup (finely chopped)
Gram flour: 1 cup
Wheat flour: 2–3 tsp (optional)
Ginger: 1 small piece (grated)
Green chilli: 1 (finely chopped)
Cumin: ½ tsp
Salt: as per taste
Turmeric: 1 pinch
Red chilli: ½ teaspoon
Water: As much as to make batter
Oil: for baking chilla
Easy method of making Palak Chilla
1. First of all wash the spinach thoroughly. Cut it finely, so that the batter becomes smooth.
2. In a large vessel, add gram flour, some wheat flour, spinach, ginger, green chilli, cumin, salt, turmeric and red chilli and mix well.
3. Now prepare a batter of medium consistency by adding water little by little. The batter should be exactly like dosa batter, not too thin and not too thick.
4. Heat a pan on the gas and add a little oil.
5. Now pour a ladle full of batter on the pan and spread it gently.
6. Apply a little oil on the edges of the chilli and let it cook on medium flame for a minute.
7. When the bottom side starts turning light golden, turn the chila and cook the other side also.
8. That’s it! Your hot Palak Chilla is ready.
How to serve?
You can eat Spinach Chilla with many things. Whatever green coriander chutney, sweet and sour tomato chutney, garlic chutney or pickle is served with it, its taste increases double.
some special tips
If you add onion to it then the taste will increase further. While making for children, keep less green chillies. Let the batter rest for 5 minutes for better taste. The taste of chillies becomes very special when baked in ghee.
