Giving a big relief to the traders, the Delhi government has abolished the requirement of renewing the registration of shops and establishments every 21 years. This change is being considered a major improvement in the direction of further strengthening Delhi’s ease of doing business.
New Delhi. A big decision has come for those doing business in Delhi. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has taken many important steps to strengthen the ease of doing business and in this series, the government has completely removed an old obstacle related to registration of shops and establishments. Earlier, renewal of registration was mandatory every 21 years under the rules made in the Delhi Shops and Establishments Act 1954, which caused a lot of trouble to the traders.
The long process, time consumption and hassle of unnecessary documents made the work of traders difficult. Now by removing this requirement, the government has made it clear that doing business in Delhi will be made even easier, simpler and transparent. This step is a big relief for everyone from small traders to big establishments.
21 year old registration renewal ended
There was a provision for renewal after 21 years under Section 5 of the Delhi Shops and Establishments Act 1954. The government has given direct relief to the traders by removing it. With this, shops and establishments will now get the benefit of one-time registration and will be freed from the compulsion of repeated renewal. This reform will make the business environment more stable and entrepreneur friendly.
Kapil Mishra said this is a historic relief for the business world.
Labor Minister Kapil Mishra said on this decision that it will give a new direction to the business economy of Delhi. According to him, eliminating the hassle of renewal will simplify the processes and traders will be able to focus only on their business. He described this as a step to provide new momentum and strength to the ease of doing business.
Fully online system already in place
The process of registration under the Shops and Establishments Act in Delhi is already completely online. In this system no documents have to be submitted nor any fee has to be paid. On the basis of the information given by the applicant, the certificate is issued immediately. This system is effective since 2009 and after this decision the entire process has now become more simple as a permanent model.
Big reforms for workers and women too
Kapil Mishra not only took steps to provide relief to businessmen but also implemented many reforms related to workers and women. In Delhi, women have been allowed to work in night shifts for which safe transportation, CCTV, security guards and ICC committee have been made mandatory. Services like free treatment are being provided to the workers through Ayushman card.
Along with this, five hundred foster homes are being established in Delhi so that women can do jobs without any hassle. It has also been proposed to create a special welfare board for gig workers, domestic helpers, taxi drivers and other labor classes so that labor reforms in Delhi can become more comprehensive and inclusive.
New direction for ease of doing business
This decision of the government will not only reduce paperwork but will also save time and energy of the traders. The one-time registration model will help in rapidly growing the business sector of Delhi. In the coming time, this decision can make the capital an even bigger center of enterprise and business.
