E-Passport India: Passport acts as an important document for traveling abroad and as an identity proof of being an Indian. Passport Seva Program V2.0 has been started by the Government of India. Under this, now e-passport system has been implemented in the entire country. From now on, only e-passports with chip will be issued for new passports and renewals issued in Indian embassies in the country and abroad.
This will speed up passport security and immigration process. Many people will have a question in their mind that whether their old passport will no longer be of any use. The answer is, they will be able to use their old passport normally. However, after the validity expires, they will now be issued only passport with chip.
Will old passports be valid?
If a person has an old passport, he can use it as before. Passports will be completely valid till the expiry date. However, if the validity of the passport has expired, you will be issued a passport with a new chip. New applicants will be given a chip passport under the e-passport system.
New applicants will not need to fill any new form or choose any option. This step has been taken by the government to make the passport more secure. Besides, the immigration process of new passport holders will also become faster than before.
E-passports will be issued from now on
The new passports and renewed passports issued from now on by the Government of India under PSP V2.0 and Global Passport Seva Program will be e-passports. The upgrade will be automatically applied at the time of applying for the passport. There is a small golden chip on the cover of the e-passport. Which has an RFID chip inside. This chip saves the biometric and personal information related to the passport holder.
