Ghee Retail Price: After the reduction in GST, all the leading dairy brands of the country had reduced their retail prices. Due to this, there was a big reduction in the prices of ghee, but now the companies have started increasing the prices again.
New Delhi. The government had given great relief to the common man by reducing GST rates on many essential items of household use. The GST Council had given a big gift to the people in the festive season by implementing lower GST rates from September 22, 2025, but not even a month and a half had passed since they got the benefit and the companies started increasing the prices of their products. Dairy products also became cheaper due to reduction in GST. This had also affected the retail prices of ghee, but now the company has increased its price three times more than what it had become due to the reduction in GST.
We are talking about Nandini, the biggest dairy brand of Karnataka. The price of ghee of this company had decreased by Rs 30 after the reduction in GST. Now the company has increased its prices outright by 90 percent. Obviously, the burden on the common man will now be three times more than the savings that were achieved due to the reduction in GST. The company has explained the reason behind this increase in its costs.
How much is the price now?
Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) has announced to increase the price of Nandini Ghee by Rs 90 per liter. Now consumers will have to pay Rs 700 per liter for this. KMF officials said that this decision has been taken due to rising costs in the international market. He said that even at the global level, prices are increasing due to demand. Our ghee prices are among the lowest and this increase is necessary to adapt to global market trends and maintain economic viability.
What was the price when GST was reduced?
Before the festive season, when the reduced GST rates were implemented across the country on September 22, the price of Nandini Ghee was Rs 640 per liter. After the reduction in GST, this price further reduced by Rs 30 to just Rs 610 per litre. Now the company has decided to increase the price by Rs 90, so the ghee of this brand has started selling for Rs 700 per litre. People say that the company may also increase the prices of its other dairy products soon.
