Jamshedpur: The number of people getting passport made in Jamshedpur is continuously increasing. In view of the increasing crowd and increasing demand for passports, now a new facility has been started at Passport Seva Kendra Bistupur. Whereas earlier only 100 passport verifications were done every day, now in view of the demand, a special mobile van of Ranchi Passport Office is reaching Jamshedpur every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Process completed in 20 minutes
With the arrival of this van, verification of 50 additional applicants is being done daily, which has brought a lot of relief to the people. The mobile passport van is fully equipped with technology. It has biometric system, photo capture machine, document scanner and instant registration facility. With this, applicants no longer have to wait for hours in long queues. Whereas earlier, verification after slot booking used to take a lot of time, now the entire process is being done in just 15 to 20 minutes.
Rahul, who had come to get the passport made, said, “Ever since the mobile van is coming, the process has become very easy. Now there is neither a need to go to Ranchi nor to wait that long for the slot. The verification is done immediately upon reaching here.” He says that this is saving both time and money.
Anil ji, who came for passport renewal, said, “15 years ago, when I came to get my passport renewed, this process was not so easy. There was less crowd but the facilities were very less. Today technology has changed everything. Now a mobile passport office is standing in front of us. Passport verification is being done in just 15-20 minutes, this was not possible earlier.”
Pressure reduced on Passport Seva Kendra Bistupur
After the introduction of mobile van system, the pressure on Passport Seva Kendra Bistupur has also reduced. According to the staff, applications had increased rapidly in the last few months, due to which the crowd was increasing. But this mobile unit coming from Ranchi is now balancing this load.
Apart from this, the arrival of vans has also provided great convenience to people coming from rural and remote areas. Many applicants say that earlier they had to spend several hours going to Ranchi, but now with this facility being available in Jamshedpur itself, both distance and expense have reduced.
