Scientists have achieved significant success in the trials of this therapy. After taking this medicine, the daily medicine given to the patients was stopped. After this, this medicine suppressed the virus for a year. Actually, till now antiretroviral therapy is given for HIV. It has to be eaten daily. If this medicine is missed then the patient has to face many problems. In such a situation, if one medicine can be used in a year, then it can prove to be a great relief for HIV patients.

According to TOI news, scientists from California University San Francisco have conducted this study. Although it was a very small trial, its results were promising. Scientists tested this immunotherapy on 10 HIV-affected people. During this period, the patient’s regular anti-retroviral therapy was stopped. Scientists gave these patients a combined treatment whose aim was to strengthen the body’s immune system against HIV. This combination therapy included a vaccine, immune-activating drugs, and broadly neutralizing antibodies. After giving this therapy, scientists tested the patients on a regular basis. After this waited for several months. After this, there was tremendous success in the result. Seven out of 10 participants had very low levels of the virus. It was so low that there was no possibility of any harm to the body. In one case surprising results were found. In one patient the virus remained suppressed for 18 months.

Scientists said that with this combination of medicines, the body’s T cells became so active that the HIV virus was never allowed to multiply. T cells are immune cells that specialize in eliminating diseases or foreign microorganisms in the body. Scientists said that this is a very rare, remarkable and promising result. In fact, the medicines available till date for HIV suppress the virus. It never completely eliminates the virus.
