New Delhi. Indian Railways has taken a big decision on window Tatkal tickets to control the brokers during Tatkal tickets. During booking, the passenger will receive an OTP, which will have to be told to the clerk sitting at the window. After this ticket booking will take place. Its pilot project has been completed. According to the Railway Ministry, this system will be implemented in all the trains running across the country in the next few days.
Indian Railways is soon going to implement OTP based system for Tatkal counter tickets of all trains. Its objective is to prevent misuse of Tatkal facility and touts, as well as to make genuine tickets easily available to common passengers. Railways has made Aadhaar-based link mandatory for online tatkal booking in July this year.
Pilot project completed
Indian Railways started its pilot project from 17 November 2025. Currently OTP was made mandatory in only 52 trains, which has been quite successful. For this reason, this system is being implemented in all trains. Its date will be announced soon.
Booking will be like this
While going to the window for reversion, you will have to fill your mobile number in the passenger reservation form. If he books a Tatkal ticket, an OTP will come on his mobile. The attendant sitting at the window will ask you for OTP, the ticket will be confirmed only after entering the OTP.
This way you will get rid of brokers
With this, the game of brokers will be completely stopped, because mobile tickets will not be made without a real passenger. In the next few days, this OTP system is also being implemented on Tatkal counter tickets of all the remaining trains. Indian Railways believes that this step will go a long way in providing Tatkal quota tickets to the really needy passengers.
