Health Tips: Many people plant trees for the beauty of their home. But most of the plants also have hidden medicinal properties. One such beneficial plant is Pagoda flower (Helenia speciosa) which belongs to the ginger family. This plant grows easily with less care and is considered beneficial for health along with decorating the house. According to Dr. Aditya Pandey, senior Ayurvedacharya of Pilibhit, Pagoda flower is useful in providing relief in swelling, fever, skin and kidney related problems. The powder of its dry roots can be taken with water or honey, while the fresh roots can be boiled and made into a decoction. Applying paste of its roots or leaves on the swollen area is also beneficial. However, any medicinal plant should be used only with the advice of an Ayurvedacharya.
