Mustard farming: It is important to keep an eye on the weather at the time of flowering of mustard. Sudden cold, frost or strong winds are dangerous for plants. In view of frost, some measures can be adopted. Today we will talk about the same. If farmer brothers take a little caution at this time, then no one can stop the production from increasing. Local 18 talked about this to Shiv Shankar Verma, officer in-charge of Agriculture Center Shivgarh of Rae Bareli district, who has 10 years of experience in the field of agriculture.
Mustard farming tips/Rae Bareli. Mustard, the main oilseed crop of Rabi season, has currently reached the flowering stage. This stage is considered very important in terms of crop production and quality. If farmers take a little caution and proper management at this time, then the yield can be increased significantly. Shiv Shankar Verma (B.Sc. Agriculture, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, Ayodhya), officer-in-charge of Government Agriculture Center Shivgarh in Rae Bareli district, who has 10 years of experience in the field of agriculture, tells Local 18 that regular monitoring of the field becomes very important as soon as the mustard flowers bloom. During this period, there is a possibility of increase in the incidence of Mahu (Aphid) and Chempa insects. If small insects or stickiness are seen on leaves or flowers, immediately take control measures. Spraying of neem based insecticide is quite effective in the initial stage, whereas if more infestation is seen then contact your nearest agriculture center and use chemical medicines.
What things should you pay more attention to?
According to agricultural expert Shiv Shankar Verma, it is important to take care of irrigation during the flowering stage. Neither allow excess water in the field nor let there be lack of moisture. Light irrigation at this time is beneficial for the crop, which reduces the problem of flower fall and produces good grains. In case of waterlogging, the roots can get damaged, which affects the production. Nutrients also play an important role in this condition. If there is a deficiency of zinc or sulfur in the field, flowers and beans are affected. At this time, spraying of sulfur containing fertilizers or micronutrients is recommended. This improves the growth of grains and also increases the amount of oil.
Strong yield will be assured
It is important to keep an eye on the weather at the time of flowering of mustard. Sudden cold, frost or strong winds can damage the flowers. If there is a possibility of frost, traditional measures like light irrigation or fumigation can be adopted. With proper pest management, balanced irrigation and supply of nutrients during the flowering stage, better production can be achieved from the mustard crop. If farmers remain alert at this time and take necessary steps on time, then good yield of mustard is considered assured.
