Thanksgiving holiday season is currently going on in America and many people are planning trips. In such a situation, thousands of people are facing problems due to cancellation of hundreds of flights. Recently, the American Federation has reduced the number of flights going to 40 places in the country. This had to be done because many air traffic controllers at the airport did not receive salaries and stopped working.
How many flights are canceled on the weekend?
The slowdown in air traffic has just reached its third day and America’s 40 busiest airports are seeing a major reduction in the number of aircraft. According to FlightAware, a website that keeps an eye on American air travel, more than 7 thousand flights were delayed on Sunday alone, whereas on Saturday this number was only 1,500. Earlier on Friday also, more than 1,000 flights had to be cancelled.
The situation will become more serious in future
The reduction in the number of flights had started from Friday itself, which may increase further in the coming days. Last Friday, the number of flights was reduced by 4 percent, which may increase to 10 percent by November 14. This will also affect all commercial airlines flying from 6 am to 10 pm. The highest number of flight cancellations took place at Atlanta Airport, which was more than 570. New Jersey’s airport was at second place, where 265 flights have been cancelled. Apart from this, flights have also been canceled in Georgia due to bad weather.
Thousands of passengers are in trouble
Thousands of passengers are facing problems due to cancellation of flights at more than 40 destinations in America. A passenger told that I had come from Tampa and my flight kept getting delayed and finally got cancelled. Later I had to rebook and after staying in the hotel, I had to catch the next flight in the morning. At many airports the average delay time of planes reached more than 75 minutes. Michigan’s airport was almost empty on Sunday morning.
