A user wrote on Reddit that his father now earns Rs 1 crore annually, whereas in 2010 he used to earn only Rs 3 lakh. There was happiness in the family then, but now the happiness has disappeared. This story tells that money will not guarantee happiness.
Tears welled up in Rohit’s eyes as soon as he saw a salary slip from an old diary. These were not tears of happiness, but tears of regret remembering a lost world. Today Rohit’s father earns around Rs 1 crore a year, he has a bungalow, luxurious cars, but there is nothing like ‘home’ left in that house. That slip of the year 2010, which was proof of his annual income of just over Rs 3 lakh, reminds of the time when his family lived in a small flat, but he had a big heart. This story is a mirror for every person who thinks that happiness can only be bought with money.
Actually, Rohit has shared his story on the social media platform Reddit. He told that he found an old diary of his father, in which a salary slip of 2010 was kept as a bookmark. Rohit was stunned after seeing her. At that time his father’s annual income was only Rs 3 lakh 20 thousand. Approximately Rs 27 thousand per month. Seeing this figure filled his heart, because that time was a golden period of happiness in his family.
Saturday evening movie, Sunday food enjoyment
In those days, Saturday evening was reserved for a movie and Sunday morning was reserved for a trip to the market. His mother was fond of making new dishes and the whole family would enjoy the dishes together. Rohit remembered how his father spent months saving to get him his first PSP and iPod. His father never let the children suffer from financial constraints. He continued to fulfill his responsibilities silently and filled the house with laughter.
Everything else is there, just not the glamor
But around 2017-18, everything started changing. His father got promoted in his job and his income started skyrocketing. One after another luxury cars came to the house, a big bungalow was built, but the beauty of the house was gone. The thing called family outing is over. Now there was only eating at the dinner table, no conversation. Gradually the laughter was replaced by silence and tension.
Rohit says with a sad heart, “Today Papa can give all the comforts of the world, but he cannot give the one thing which he had given in that small flat – time and love. Today we all live under the same roof, but are living in different worlds. Sometimes I think, has this fast-paced life taken away all our good memories?” There is a deep pain hidden in Rohit’s words, “Even today I look for the laughter of those old days, which seems to be buried under this mountain of money.”
