Last year also during the same quarter, the company had suffered a loss of Rs 986.7 crore. However, the company had made a profit of Rs 2,176.30 crore in the June quarter. According to IndiGo’s parent company InterGlobe Aviation, the main reason for this loss is the fall in the value of rupee against the dollar.
The company’s expenses increased due to the ongoing fluctuations in the rupee. Due to which the company had to suffer loss. The main expenses of airline companies are in fuel and maintenance of the airline. For both of these, airline companies pay in dollars. Due to fall in the value of rupee the company has to pay more. Due to which the company’s losses increase.
