Meerut: There is good news for the consumers related to Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited, the consumers who have not been able to deposit their electricity bills yet and due to this they have outstanding of lakhs of rupees including interest, in such a situation, all those consumers can avail the benefit of rebate in interest as well as principal amount for the first time by registering under the Electricity Bill Relief Scheme 2025-26 from December 1, 2025. This information was given by Chief Engineer Urban First Engineer Munish Chopra while having a special conversation with the team of Local-18.
The scheme will be operated in three phases

Munish Chopra said that this scheme will be operated in three phases, the first phase of which will operate from 1 December 2025 to 31 December 2025, the second phase from 1 January 2026 to 31 January 2026 and the third phase from 1 February 2026 to 28 February 2026. He told that under this scheme, consumers will get more benefits on the basis of first come first serve priority, because in the first phase, consumers will get 25% discount in the second phase, 20% in the second phase and 15% discount in the principal amount in the third phase, while the interest will be waived up to 100%. In such a situation, consumers can register themselves under the Electricity Bill Relief Scheme without any delay.
You will get benefit in this way also
He told that any consumer who registers under this scheme will have to deposit a registration fee of Rs 2,000. However, this registration fee will also be included in their bill. Along with this, any consumer who is not able to deposit his amount in lump sum. All such consumers have been provided the facility to pay through installments, in which a provision has been made for installments up to Rs 750 and Rs 500.
Electricity theft case will also be resolved
Along with this, he said that this time all the consumers who are involved in the electricity theft case or their cases are pending in the concerned court, will also be resolved under this scheme, in which they can avail the benefit of this scheme by depositing 50% amount along with summon fee in the first phase, 55% in the second phase and 60% in the third phase.

Let us tell you that under this scheme, rebate in revenue will be provided to never paid and unpaid consumers of LMV-1 i.e. up to 2 kilowatt and commercial category LMV-2 i.e. up to 1 kilo watt and in case of electricity theft.
