Mandi Sadar BJP MLA Anil Sharma said that the efforts which he had started during his government regarding the new building of the college, are now going to be completed in a way. He said that after repeated requests from the state government, this amount has been received and now this work is being completed. According to Anil Sharma, a target has been set to complete this work by Shivratri so that this building can be started. Let us tell you that Vallabh College, Mandi is the only college in the entire state where the number of students is highest. More than 6 thousand students study here.
Building started being constructed under BJP government
It is noteworthy that the construction work of the new building of the college started in January 2022 during the previous BJP government. This was a project worth about Rs 50 crore, half of which had been released during the previous BJP government and more than half of the work had also been done. But after the change of government, this work was stopped due to lack of funds. Then the state government made a provision of money for this and this work started again from January 2024. After that this work continued somehow.
Re-estimate to make the building steel fabricated
Now for this, an amount of Rs 5 crore 35 lakh has been sanctioned to the Public Works Department by the college management, out of which an amount of Rs 4 crore has been given while an amount of Rs 1 crore 35 lakh is yet to be given. In this, an amount of Rs 3.5 crore has also been received under RUSA i.e. National Higher Education Campaign of the Central Government. It is noteworthy that former CM Jairam Thakur had first released about Rs 26 crore for this earthquake resistant five-storey academic building. However, the estimate for making the building steel fabricated again reached Rs 41 crore. Later the budget increased further.
