Janjgir-Champa: In the winter season, people use sweaters and warm clothes to protect themselves from cold, while one part of the body is often affected the most, the heels of the feet. Due to cold and dry air, moisture in the skin of the body starts decreasing and this lack of moisture becomes the main cause of cracks in the heels, sometimes these cracks become so deep that even walking becomes painful. Know what the AYUSH doctor has said on this problem.
AYUSH doctor of District Hospital Janjgir, Dr. P.B. Diwan told that in winter, the skin, especially the thick skin under the feet, loses its natural moisture, the soles and heels of the feet become thick, and as the cold increases, this thick skin dries up and starts cracking, this condition is commonly called bewai or cracked feet, which can be painful if proper care is not taken.
Dr. Diwan told that the most important and special thing to prevent heels from cracking is to maintain moisture. In this, regular use of Vaseline, Glycerine or any natural oil is very effective. He told that before sleeping at night, one should apply vaseline or glycerine on the heels and massage them lightly, it softens the skin and heals cracked heels quickly. If the heels are severely cracked, then excessive use of Vaseline is beneficial.
He told about the home remedies that adding a little salt in lukewarm water and soaking the feet for 10-15 minutes at night is very beneficial, this softens the hard skin of the feet and speeds up the healing of cracks. After this, applying coconut or mustard oil and wearing socks keeps the moisture in the skin for a long time.
Dr. Diwan said that many people keep their feet open at home in winter, due to which the heels dry up faster. Keeping the feet covered and keeping them warm maintains the moisture and natural sweating of the skin, which is very important to prevent cracked heels in winter. And said that people have this problem every year. They should pay special attention to the care of feet as soon as the cold starts, so that the situation of cracks does not arise. The simplest solution to this problem is regular moisturizing, keeping the feet clean and protecting them from cold.
