Patna: Dense fog has slowed down the speed of trains in Bihar. Trains are being operated late due to severe winter. In such a situation, passengers are worried. Due to fog in Danapur, dozens of trains are running late by 8 to 10 hours. Due to this, the passengers had to spend the whole night on the platform. Amidst the cold and fog, passengers were seen sleeping and shivering on the platform. Passengers allege that no proper arrangements were made by the railway administration.
The passengers gathered at the station say that they kept wandering here and there to escape the cold, but no concrete arrangements were found. Many passengers were seen sitting on the floor or huddling on the open platform, waiting for the train. The restlessness of the passengers increased further as information about the delay was not received on time. Passenger Pramod Kumar said, “We have been at the station since night. There is no clear information about when the train will arrive. It is very cold, but no arrangements have been made for blankets or even tea and water.” At the same time, Arabind Pandey says, “The elderly and children are the most troubled. Railways should make special arrangements for the passengers at least during the winter season.”
many trains late
The effect of fog was clearly visible on the timetable of trains. 15125 Patna Jan Shatabdi ran late. 20801 Magadh Express was delayed by 3h 25 mins. 12334 Vibhuti Express was late by 11 hours, 15744 Farakka Express was late by 8 hours and 9 minutes. Apart from this, Darbhanga Special Express was delayed by more than 28 hours. Patna Special Express was delayed by about 7 hours, Magadh Express by 5 hours, Brahmaputra Mail Up by about 3 hours and Down by 6 hours. Sampoorna Kranti Express and Shramjeevi Express were delayed by about 3 hours each, Vikramshila Express by 2 hours and Tejas Rajdhani Express was also delayed by about 2 hours.
Fog became the cause of delay
Railway officials say that fog reduces visibility, due to which the speed of trains has to be limited. This step is necessary in view of security, but the question of the passengers is, what about their stay and facilities in case of delay? At present, the Meteorological Department has predicted that foggy conditions will persist. In such a situation, the passengers have demanded from the Railways that in view of the cold and foggy weather, facilities like additional waiting rooms, blankets, hot water and tea should be ensured at the station, so that the compulsion of traveling does not become a punishment in the cold.
