Cost of Veg and Non Veg Thali Drops: Veg and non-veg thali has become cheaper. This information has come to light in the latest report of CRISIL Intelligence. It has been told in this report that in October 2025, the prices of home-cooked veg and non-veg thalis have declined by 17 percent and 12 percent respectively on an annual basis, mainly due to the huge fall in the prices of vegetables and pulses.
Homemade food has become cheaper in October. Vegetarian thali has become cheaper by 17 percent. At the same time, the price of non-veg thali also decreased by 12 percent.
The CRISIL report said potato prices have fallen by 31 per cent, while production in the Rabi season 2024-25 has increased by 3-4 per cent compared to last year, while tomato prices have fallen by 40 per cent compared to last year due to higher supply from western and southern markets.
Fall in prices of onion and pulses
According to Pushan Sharma, Director of Crisil Intelligence, onion prices have declined due to increase in the supply of stocks for Rabi season 2024-25, ahead of the arrival of Kharif crop in the market from November. “Pulses prices also declined, supported by increase in arrivals of Bengal gram, yellow pea and black gram. In the medium term, onion prices may see a marginal rise as excessive rainfall in August and September in major producing states like Karnataka and Maharashtra has delayed kharif planting, raising yield concerns,” Sharma said.
Potato prices expected to remain stable in November
Potato prices are expected to remain stable in November due to low supply of early Rabi crop, but prices may decline after cold storages remove their stocks by mid-December. According to the report, tomato prices are likely to remain soft amid the continuous arrival of Kharif.
6 percent decline in broiler prices
The cost of non-veg thali has fallen less than that of vegetarian thali as broiler prices declined marginally by 6 per cent compared to last year. The price of broiler is almost half of the cost of non-veg thali. However, low prices of vegetables and pulses helped reduce the overall cost.
