Raipur News: In Chhattisgarh, the Tricycle Distribution Scheme of the Social Welfare Department is showing impact on the ground in the direction of making the daily life of the disabled people easier and making them self-reliant. From villages, towns to cities, there are many disabled people for whom moving from one place to another is a big challenge. In view of this problem, the government is providing normal and motorized tricycles to the eligible disabled people, so that they can connect with their work, studies and employment without any support.
This is the benefit of the scheme
Deputy Director of Social Welfare Department, Ajay Gedam said that the objective of this scheme is not just to provide resources, but also to provide facilities to the disabled to move around with dignity. He told that there are two types of tricycles. Disabled persons whose disability is 40 percent are given normal tricycles. Those whose disability is 80 percent are given motorized tricycles. The special thing is that if a person with 70 percent disability wishes to get employment, he can also get the benefit of motorized tricycle.
Big relief to children going to school-college
The government has also taken a sensitive decision regarding the disabled children studying. According to Deputy Director Ajay Gedam, if a child with 60 percent disability is studying in class 11th or 12th, he can also be given a motorized tricycle. This is providing great relief to the children going to school and college from remote villages and their studies are being saved from getting interrupted.
Talking about the features of motorized tricycle, it can run for about 20 to 25 kilometers once fully charged. It takes about 4 hours to charge, due to which it is proving very useful for the disabled people living in villages and towns. Many beneficiaries are now able to easily access markets, offices and training centres.
The application process for this scheme has also been kept easy. Disabled people can apply in their nearest district panchayat office. From there the application is sent to the Social Welfare Department. Necessary documents like disability certificate, UDI card, Aadhar card, income certificate and photograph are required along with the application. After verification of all documents, tricycle is provided as per eligibility.
The biggest thing is that no fee is charged for this entire process. At the local level, this scheme is becoming a support for the disabled people and is playing an important role in connecting them with the mainstream.
