At the same time, after detailed review, on 20 May 2024, CISF completely took over the security of the Parliament House Complex. Also, after completely taking over the Parliament’s Access Control, Perimeter Security, Internal Security, Counter Terror, Counter Sabotage and Fire and Disaster Response, CISF has also shifted the security of the Parliament to a new level in the last one year.
This is the first time that the security of Parliament has been structured at an advanced level like an airport. Now, whether it is entry into Parliament or movement inside, everything happens under multi-level verification, advanced frisking and X-ray baggage checking. CISF has deployed more than 3,300 specially trained personnel for the security of the Parliament House Complex, which includes more than 200 fire and disaster management experts. Let us tell you that CISF has selected these personal under a special process.
Specialized training with NSG for modern threats
At present, it is not possible to keep a place like Parliament safe only through physical security. Therefore, CISF has completed preparations at every level from drone to cyber threat. CISF has specially trained its soldiers. They are being given regular training like drone threat response, cyber security, CBRN handling, high-risk battle inoculation. These also include specialized training done with NSG and Indian Army. This means that the security of Parliament is no longer conventional, but has become completely modern, multi-layered and tech-integrated.
There will be a tenure of 4 years in posting and extension is also possible.
Due to constant rotation in the security of the Parliament, the soldiers were not able to become familiar with the place and pattern. To correct this, CISF has implemented a new posting policy. Now the tenure of the soldiers posted in the Parliament House Complex has been increased from 3 years to 4 years. Apart from this, if the performance and suitability is good, an extension of 1 year can also be given. CISF believes that with long tenure, the soldiers know the MPs better, deeply understand the movements, routines, house protocols and security patterns of the Parliament. This makes threat recognition and response much stronger. Under the policy, a fixed percentage of soldiers will be replaced every year, so that fresh energy continues to come and continuity is also maintained.

CISF has implemented eligibility norms for officers and non-gazetted personnel for deployment in the Parliament House Complex.
