Chitrakoot: While on one hand people sleep peacefully considering their hard-earned money safe in the bank, on the other hand a case has come to light from Chitrakoot district which has surprised everyone, from the administration to the bank managers. An amount of about Rs 15 crore is deposited in the banks here, for which no one has come to claim it and this is not a theft, scam or technical mistake, but a unique case of unclaimed money, which has created a strange discussion in the entire district.
There is no heir of Rs 15 crore
District Leading Bank Manager Chitrakoot Anurag Sharma told Local 18 that the Financial Services Department of the Government of India has started a special campaign named Your Capital – Your Rights. The purpose of this campaign is to find the heirs of those accounts in which money is deposited, but no transaction has taken place for years. 42 thousand such inactive accounts have been found in Chitrakoot, in which a total of Rs 15 crores are lying without any heir and there is no one to take it.
Accounts of most deceased
In further information, he said that the bank is repeatedly sending notices to the employees door to door, but there are many addresses where no one is found. Some people left the city due to jobs, some tenants changed, while many account holders have passed away years ago and their family members probably do not even know that the money is deposited in the bank. People have forgotten their own savings. He told that most of the accounts belong to those who have died.
The campaign will run till 31 December
Anurag Sharma told Local 18 that if there is no transaction in an account for 10 years, then the amount goes to RBI’s DEA fund. During the investigation of this fund, this figure came to light, which has shocked the entire district. Let us tell you that a big campaign is being run in the district regarding this amount till 31st December. The bank manager has appealed to the people that if they have information about any family around them, which has an old account or insurance in their name, then they should help the bank employees, so that this forgotten wealth can reach their rightful heir.
