New Delhi. Hinduja Group Chairman Gopichand P Hinduja passed away in London at the age of 85. He took over the post of chairman in 2023 after the death of his elder brother Srichand Hinduja. In the same year, Gopichand Hinduja and the Hinduja family retained their reign as Britain’s richest people in the Sunday Times Rich List. He started his career in 1959 with Hinduja Group in Mumbai.
Gopichand P Hinduja was the second among four brothers. His elder brother was Srichand Hinduja who died in 2023. After Gopichand, now Prakash P Hinduja and Ashok P Hinduja are alive. Gopichand Hinduja’s wife’s name is Sunita Hinduja. He has 2 sons and 1 daughter. The names of the sons are Sanjay and Dheeraj. Daughter’s name is Rita.
some big acquisitions
The acquisition of Gulf Oil by Hinduja Group in 1984 was his decision. After this, in 1987 he bought the crisis-hit Ashok Leyland. Today this incident is considered one of India’s biggest corporate success stories. Under his leadership, the company also established its foothold in sectors like power and infrastructure.
Education
Gopi Chanj Hinduja graduated from Jai Hind College, Mumbai. After this he did a Doctorate in Law from the University of Westminster, then obtained a Doctorate of Economics degree from Richmond College, London.
