NPS e-Shramik scheme: Along with the changing world, the working patterns of people are also changing. Working in the same office for years is proving to be a thing of the past. Today’s youth are doing freelance or gig work as per their ability. There is no restriction of any kind on them under freelance or gig work. They can work as per their mind and time. Changing technology has increased the number of gig workers.
People are working in companies like Zomato, Swiggy, Ola, Uber, Blinkit and Urban Company. However, these gig workers get paid for their work but do not get other facilities. They neither get the facility of PF nor any pension scheme. For such workers, the Central Government has started the NPS e-Shramik Platform Service Partner Scheme. Under which they are given facilities like financial security and pension.
What is NPS e-Shramik Scheme?
The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) is now planning to link gig workers to the National Pension System (NPS). The purpose of this step is to provide retirement security to those people who do not work at any one place on a regular basis.
Under this scheme, now gig workers working in companies like Ola, Swiggy, Blinkit can also register themselves and deposit pension for future.
Registration process
To avail the benefits of this scheme, first you will have to make Quick PRAN. Under which the resident details of the gig worker will be verified. Like their name, address, PAN number and bank account etc. will be verified.
After this, if the worker agrees, PRAN (Permanent Retirement Account Number) will be issued. Once PRAN is generated, the worker will have to provide information related to his parents, email and nominee. For which a time limit of 60 days has been fixed.
