Serious security vulnerabilities have been found in older versions of Google Chrome. CERT-In has issued an alert and advised users to update their browsers immediately.
CERT-In, the cyber security agency of the Government of India, has issued a big and serious alert for Google Chrome users. This warning issued in November 2025 has been placed in the High Severity category, which means that this flaw can prove to be very dangerous for millions of users using older versions of Chrome. CERT-In says that if hackers take advantage of this security flaw, then they can run the desired code on your system even remotely. Due to this, the entire data, files and accounts of your laptop or computer can become vulnerable to hacking.
According to the government, several serious vulnerabilities related to V8 JavaScript Engine have been found in some older versions of Google Chrome. These flaws are called type confusion. Hackers can take advantage of these vulnerabilities only when they get a user to click on a specific type of webpage. This means that just by opening a wrong link, the system can come under the control of the hacker. Therefore this warning is very important for common users.
CERT-In said that Chrome users of all three platforms Windows, macOS and Linux are at risk if they are using older versions. Especially those users whose version of Chrome is older than them.

Both the government and Google have advised that users immediately install the latest update of Chrome, as Google has released security patches. Updating Chrome is very easy.

- Go to Settings.
- Go to About Chrome.
- The browser will automatically download the update.
- Restart Chrome after updates are installed
