Newtown Slum Fire: Locket Chatterjee accused of conspiracy on Newtown fire. The BJP leader said that the state government wants to add illegal voters. He also accused TMC of spoiling the business environment. The BJP leader said, “The government is just trying to show that investors are coming to West Bengal, it wants to get votes from the people by telling this lie.”
Kolkata. Bharatiya Janata Party leader Locket Chatterjee on Thursday termed the fire incident in Newtown, West Bengal as a conspiracy. He said that the slum was deliberately set on fire so that people’s names could be illegally added to the voter list on the pretext of burning their old documents. BJP leader Locket Chatterjee, speaking to IANS, said, “The state government is thinking that there has been illegal infiltration from Bangladesh, so how can they be included in the voter list of West Bengal? That is why the entire colony was deliberately set on fire.”
He said, “Now the people there are objecting that our old papers have been burnt, so add our names to the voter list again. The state government does not want to send back the illegal Rohingyas. At the same time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is saying that not a single Rohingya or illegal infiltrator will remain in the country. The West Bengal government wants to retain the illegal voters in the state in view of the 2026 assembly elections.”
Locket Chatterjee targeted the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government over the business conclave in West Bengal. He said, “This is just a way to throw dust in the eyes of the people. No one wants to invest in West Bengal.” He said, “Businessmen of West Bengal do their business in different states of the country. There is no environment for doing business in West Bengal. If anyone thinks of doing business here, efforts are made to destroy it right from the beginning.”
The BJP leader said, “The government is just trying to show that investors are coming to West Bengal, it wants to get votes from the people by lying. At the same time, the GDP in the country is increasing rapidly under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. India is progressing rapidly in the whole world.”
