Barmer News: Under the modernization campaign of Railways, major changes have been made in the trains of Barmer. Shalimar Express will now operate with LHB coaches and Yesvantpur AC Express with electric engines. This step will prove important in the direction of energy efficiency, environmental protection and passenger convenience. Rs 421 crore has been spent for Barmer-Joghpur electric line.
Barmer. North Western Railways has made major technical changes in two major trains running from Barmer. Now Barmer-Jammuthavi Shalimar Express will run with state-of-the-art LHB coaches and Barmer-Yesvantpur AC Express will run with electric engines. With these changes, passengers will get a more comfortable and safe journey.
According to Anurag Tripathi, Divisional Railway Manager, Jodhpur Division, as part of the modernization campaign of the Railways, now the Barmer-Jammuthavi Shalimar Express will be run with LHB rakes, while the Barmer-Yesvantpur AC Express will be operated with electric engines. According to him, this change is an important step towards increasing energy efficiency and environmental protection. This will not only provide better facilities to the passengers but will also make railway operations more convenient and modern.
Barmer-Jammutvi-Barmer Express will now operate with LHB coaches.
According to DRM, LHB coaches are considered more safe, durable and suitable for high speed whereas running trains with electric engines will improve the travel speed along with saving fuel and reducing noise pollution. Train No. 14661/14662 Barmer – Jammutavi – Barmer Shalimar Express will operate with state-of-the-art LHB rakes in place of conventional ICF coaches from 15 January 2026.
Barmer-Yesvantpur weekly AC express will run with electric engine
The same train number 14806 Barmer-Yesvantpur Weekly AC Express will run with electric engine instead of diesel engine from 13 November 2025. This train will operate with electric engine from Barmer to Hubli and diesel engine from Hubli to Yesvantpur. This will provide ease of transportation to the passengers.
Rs 421 crore spent for 210 km electric line between Barmer-Jodhpur
Railway Department has spent Rs 421 crore for laying the electric line from Jodhpur to Barmer. After the completion of the electric line from Jodhpur to Samdari-Balotra and from Balotra to Munabao, now the residents of Barmer city will get the benefit of electric engines.
