All seats are full in Shatabdi, Mussoorie, Shatabdi and Nanda Devi coming from Delhi to Dehradun on 25th December and 31st December. According to the information received, all the seats in major trains like Shatabdi Express and Nanda Devi Express coming from Delhi to Dehradun have been filled on the dates of 25th December and 31st December. However, you can come here before this, because tickets will be available to you before 25th December.
Passengers in these trains coming from Delhi are now facing long waiting lists, due to which there is less hope for Tatkal tickets. Apart from Delhi, trains coming to Dehradun from other remote places are also overcrowded and seats are not available. However, if you plan to come to Dehradun on the dates just before December 25 and December 31, you are likely to get some seats. If not getting a seat in the train, tourists can consider booking till Haridwar, Roorkee or other nearby stations and come to Dehradun by road from there. To avoid last minute hassles, the best option is to travel by bus, taxi or private vehicle.
30% advance booking in Mussoorie, hoteliers excited
The direct impact of this huge surge in train booking is also visible on the tourism industry of Mussoorie. In anticipation of increase in tourist arrivals, Mussoorie’s hotels and guest houses are also filling up rapidly. According to the information received from Sandeep Sah, State President of Uttarakhand Hotel and Restaurant Association, so far about 30 percent advance booking has been done for Christmas and New Year celebrations in Mussoorie. This trend shows that all the major tourist places and hotel-resorts of Mussoorie can be completely packed on Christmas and New Year week.
In view of this boom, hoteliers are also busy preparing special packages and events for tourists. Hotel owners also make different types of offers for this, so that the pleasure of the tourists is doubled. Tourists who have not yet made their hotel bookings are advised to make their accommodation arrangements in Mussoorie and Dehradun soon. The tourism industry of Dehradun and Mussoorie is expecting a big boom at the end of this year, for which both the local administration and businessmen are ready.
