Farmer Subodh Kumar is cultivating Aparajita on a large scale in Samastipur district. He told that initially he planted it as an ornamental flower, but gradually he got detailed information about its medicinal importance, after which he started growing it as a commercial crop. Today, Aparajita is grown in large quantities in his farm and its demand is continuously increasing, especially in herbal manufacturing industries and Ayurvedic clinics.
Subodh explains that the leaves, roots and flowers of Aparajita are used in the manufacturing of many types of Ayurvedic medicines. The most popular is Aparajita tea, also known as ‘Blue Tea’. This tea is considered very helpful in enhancing the memory of children and students, improving mental concentration and reducing stress. Apart from this, it is also used in the problem of cold, cough, mild fever, headache and swelling in the body.
What does Ayurvedacharya say?
Dr. Ranjan, Ayurvedacharya of Samastipur, says that Aparajita should not be mistaken for a normal plant. Antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and immunity enhancing properties are found in abundance in it. He told that its use is considered effective for people suffering from insomnia, forgetfulness, constant stress and weak immunity. He said that its blue colored flower is considered the most medicinal. Tea made from this flower also proves helpful in removing toxic elements present in the blood, improving digestion and keeping the skin healthy. The special thing is that if Aparajita is consumed in the right quantity and in the right way, it has no side effects.
Farmers’ interest in farming is increasing
Farmers like Subodh are now considering Aparajita farming as a strong source of income. Its maintenance is easy and if the climate is favourable, the production is also higher. There is good demand for dried flowers, powder and tea packets in the market, due to which farmers get better economic benefits. The increasing popularity of Aparajita is proof that plants hidden in the lap of nature can not only protect our health but can also provide economic strength to the farmers.
