AQI increases due to winds from other states
Bihar Pollution Control Chairman D.K. Shukla said that the level of pollution in Bihar mainly depends on temperature, wind speed and local factors. Local factors are under our control. Continuous action is taken on this and different measures are adopted. We have no control over environmental factors. He told that a major reason for the spread of pollution is the air coming from outside. The winds blowing from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana carry the pollution with them to Bihar. The geographical position of Bihar is such that the winds coming from outside come and stabilize here. In Bihar, the wind speed is much less as compared to other states, due to which the polluted air coming from outside gets stuck here and the pollution persists for a long time. For this reason, sometimes a sudden rise in the air quality index is seen. However, at present the air of Bihar is not in the extremely bad category.
