With the aim of providing bigger health cover at lower premium, the Postal Department has started Super Top-up Insurance Plan, which costs only Rs 995 annually and under this, health insurance cover up to Rs 15 lakh is available.
What is the whole scheme
This scheme is proving to be a boon for those beneficiaries who already have a small health insurance plan or Ayushman card. While Ayushman Yojana provides cover up to Rs 5 lakh, this post office plan covers major expenses above that. In such a situation, by paying a nominal premium, the family gets protection from major expenses related to serious illness, accident, surgery and hospitalization.
Facility will be available through Ayushman card
Devashish Joshi, branch manager of Indian Post Payment Bank at Head Post Office, Nainital, said that this plan works like health insurance and covers almost all medical needs including accidents. Any person between 18 to 65 years can avail the benefit of this scheme. To apply, it is necessary to already have a health insurance or Ayushman card. However, if a person does not have any insurance policy or Ayushman card, he can also apply for this scheme. In such cases, the expense up to Rs 2 lakh will have to be borne by the customer himself, while the entire expense above that will be covered by this super top-up plan of the post office.
Cheap premium for family also
People can easily apply by visiting the IPPB (Indian Post Payment Bank) center of their nearest post office. This scheme is available not only for individuals but also for families. He informed that the annual premium for husband and wife is Rs 1250, whereas the premium for husband and wife and two children (four members) is Rs 1995 annually. Low premium, high cover and easy process, these three features make this plan a better option for the common people. At a time when health insurance prices are continuously increasing. This plan of the post office is proving to be a big security cover for the economically weak and middle class families.
