44 people have died in the massive fire that broke out in Hong Kong’s High Rise Society, hundreds of people are still missing. This is considered to be the worst fire in Hong Kong so far.

The fire spread to the higher floors within a few minutes. Seeing the situation worsening, the Hong Kong Fire Department extinguished the fire at No. 6 at 6:22 pm on the same day. 5 Alarm was declared, which is considered the highest alert level of Hong Kong’s disaster warning system.
So far, 44 people have been reported dead in the fire, although the number of people killed in the accident is expected to increase, more than 300 people are still missing, whom relief teams are trying to find.

The fire was so severe that even a fireman lost his life, the flames rising during the relief work became a cause of fear for the people.
This accident is considered to be one of the most deadly and destructive fires in the history of Hong Kong. Many towers were badly damaged and being a high-rise structure, the rescue work was extremely difficult.
Investigation revealed that renovation work was going on in the complex. For this, bamboo scaffolding was made, this started the fire which kept spreading.
The investigating agencies have arrested three persons, which include two directors of the construction company, besides a consultant engineering, they have been accused of serious negligence.
Several temporary shelters were built in the Tai Po area, where about 900 people were shifted. Fire brigade, police and emergency teams remained engaged in relief and rescue throughout the night. Treatment of the injured is going on in many hospitals.
The Hong Kong government has spoken of taking action against construction companies, building control department and security authorities. Help packages and relief assistance have been announced for the affected families.
