A 28-week pregnant woman shared the story of toxic work culture, manager’s misbehavior and not getting leave at a PSU bank on Reddit, sparking a debate on social media.
On hearing the name of government job, ‘comfort job’ comes to the mind of many people. And if this job is of a bank then what can I say. But when a pregnant employee of a public sector bank described the conditions of toxic work culture along with her treatment, the entire social media was shocked. This woman’s story has challenged the myth of government jobs being ‘safe and comfortable’.
A 28-week pregnant woman has shared a screenshot on Reddit talking about her ordeal. This woman told that despite having a fever of 103 degrees during pregnancy, she was forced to come to the office, and whose manager not only refused to approve her leave, but also taunted her by calling her at 10:30 pm.
Pain of viral post: ‘I cry in the office, pregnancy is becoming difficult’
This woman has narrated her story on Reddit’s IndianWorkplace subreddit with the username /flyingastrologer. The post read, “I sometimes cry because of this inhuman treatment in the office. I am emotionally and physically exhausted. My pregnancy is getting harder day by day.” He also shared screenshots of the manager ignoring his leave requests. This post quickly went viral. This user wrote that the first trimester was very difficult for him. He suffered a 103-degree fever due to a viral infection, but still had to come to work. This was because there was no other staff present in the branch; Other colleagues were on leave and no replacement was sent. He took sick leave only 2-3 times in the entire month, and that too when vomiting or fatigue became unbearable.
