Patna. After the formation of the new government in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is continuously inspecting the development works. Nitish Kumar on Wednesday conducted on-site inspection of Patna-Bihta elevated corridor and gave instructions to speed up the construction work. Danapur-Bihta Elevated Road, one of the most important road projects of the capital Patna, is on the fast track of construction. It is considered to be one of the most important and high-connectivity projects of Patna. During the inspection of Patna-Bihta Elevated, the officials gave detailed information to the Chief Minister regarding the progress of the entire project, construction status, land acquisition, intersection construction and technical challenges.
He said that NHAI is working on the target of completing this elevated road by September 2026. During this, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar gave many important suggestions to the officials. He directed that the work should be carried forward rapidly and wherever any obstacle arises, it should be removed immediately. He also said that completion of this road will bring a big change in Patna-Bihta airport connectivity, hence special attention should be paid to both quality and time limit. With the construction of Patna-Bihta elevated corridor, there will be a saving of 2 hours in the journey between Patna and Delhi.
Now the journey will be completed in 20 minutes
In fact, at present the passengers going from Patna to Bihta have to face heavy traffic around Danapur, Saguna Mod and Shivala. This journey of 24 kilometers often takes more than an hour and sometimes due to severe traffic jams it takes more than 2 hours to cover this distance. But, after the construction of Danapur-Bihta elevated road, this distance can be covered in just 20 minutes. This road will provide direct connectivity between Patna and Bihta Airport. In future, Bihta can be developed as International Airport, in such a situation this road will prove to be a game changer for the city.
Which points will be connected by the elevated road?
This corridor will connect many important locations, including-
Danapur Station
saguna bend
Bihta-Sarmera Highway
Shivala Mod
Bihta Airport Zone
This elevated road will also be connected to the 8 lane road being built between Saguna-Danapur station.
NHAI is doing the construction at a cost of Rs 3147 crore.
National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is spending about Rs 3147 crore on this project.
The total length of the elevated road will be 23.50–24 kilometers, which will start from Danapur flyover and end directly near Bihta Airport. A big intersection will also be built near Danapur station, which will provide a lot of convenience to the passengers traveling to and from the station.
It will take 8 to 9 hours to go from Patna to Delhi
With the construction of this road, access not only to Bihta but also to Purvanchal Expressway will become very easy. The 120 km journey from Patna to Hydaria in UP will be completed in just 2 hours. The time to reach Delhi will be 8-9 hours. It will also be easy to reach Banaras, Ballia, Vindhyachal and Ghazipur. In fact, with the connectivity of Patna with Ara-Koilwar-Buxar Highway, this journey will become easier than before. Elevated Road – There will be rapid urban development on the western side of Patna. Bihta area will get the benefit of the new industrial zone. There will be a huge reduction in traffic jams. Apart from this, pressure will be reduced at points like Danapur, Saguna Mod, Shivala. This project can become one of the biggest infrastructure achievements of Patna in the coming years.
