Patna: This is the story of a father who dreamed of wearing a uniform and also prepared, but could not succeed. Then he decided to give good education to his children and make them officers. For this, he opened a small book shop in Bahadurpur, Patna and started selling books.
He not only sold books, but also taught his children a lot. The result was that today his elder son is DIG in Bihar, while his daughter is working on the post of SDM. Despite this he did not close his book shop. Even today he is engaged in his work with the same dedication and honesty. This inspirational story is originally of Anil Kumar, a resident of Nalanda and the name of his shop is Kumar Book Centre.
Son and daughter-in-law are DIG, daughter is SDM
64-year-old Anil Kumar proudly shows the pictures of his children in his shop and says that he has three children. Elder son Ashish Bharti is DIG in Begusarai and his wife is also posted as DIG in Darbhanga. Daughter Anisha Bharti is working as SDM in Patna. The second son helps him in managing the business. His son-in-law is also a big officer. In this way his entire family has become an inspiration for the youth today.
Wanted to become an officer myself, now let’s make children
Anil Kumar had set the goal of becoming an IPS in his young age. He prepared for UPSC and tried two-three times, but financial constraints blocked his path. Family responsibilities started increasing and he could not appear for further exams. Although his dream remained unfulfilled, he did not let it end. He decided in his mind that what he himself could not become, he would become their child.
Opened a small shop in Patna, started the struggle
Anil Kumar’s dream may have remained unfulfilled, but he kept his connection with books. He tells that after leaving studies in 1986, I opened a small book shop in Bahadurpur, Patna. At that time, the number of book shops for competitive exams in Patna was very less. To get new stock, I used to take the train to Delhi, buy books and return by train. He used to come to Patna by putting sacks of books inside the train seats.
He further told that at that time I used to give many new books including notes to the youth here. Because of this there was a good crowd of students. Today many officers used to buy books from my shop during their preparation days.
Delhi’s approach for the best education of children
During this time, his desire to provide a better environment and higher education to his children took him to Delhi. Anil shifted to Delhi with his family. There also he opened a book shop and continued running the shop with the same hard work and honesty. Gradually the Delhi shop also became famous and started earning well.
Younger son took responsibility in the difficulty of Corona period
Everything was going well when Anil himself got infected with the infection during the Covid period. He struggled with the illness for many days in the hospital and at home. At such a time, the younger son left his studies and took full responsibility in place of his father and started managing the shop in Delhi. In this way, instead of stopping, the business became stronger. Even today, this shop in Delhi is one of the famous shops of that area.
Returned to Patna and started my journey again
Now Anil Kumar has come back to Patna. With old memories and passion, I started my book shop in Boring Road, Patna a year ago. The younger son is managing the shop in Delhi, while Anil himself sits at the shop in Patna every day. At this shop named Kumar Book Centre, notes of many toppers and books written by them are available. Books written by Khan sir and other great teachers across the country are easily available to the youth here.
Free coaching for economically weak youth
Anil Kumar tells that his IPS son and daughter working on the post of SDM also write books related to competitive examinations. Many books written by him are quite popular among the youth. He also has his own publishing house, from where all these books are published.
Not only this, Anil Kumar has recently started a free online platform named The Officers Classes for the economically weak youth who are not able to study from good teachers. Where students can prepare without any fees.
On this platform, his children also provide guidance and inspiration to the students as special mentors. In this way, this entire family associated with books has become a big example for the youth today.
