IMD Weather Alert: Winter weather has derailed normal life. Many states are facing difficulties due to extremely dense fog. Delhi and surrounding areas are being hit by air pollution along with fog. On Saturday 20 December 2025, AQI of areas like Anand Vihar and Wazirpur was recorded above 400. Visibility has also reduced due to dense fog. Due to this, more than 150 flights have been affected at IGI Airport.
IMD Weather Alert: The mercury is continuously falling in most of the states of North and East India. Due to this the cold has increased. Snowfall has also occurred in many high altitude areas of Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain and heavy snowfall in the hilly states due to the impact of western disturbance. The situation is not good even in the plains. In states like Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, normal life has been adversely affected due to severe cold and dense fog. Movement from planes to trains to cars and buses has been badly affected. More than 150 flights have been affected at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI Airport) due to dense fog and low visibility. The operation of trains has also been affected. Most of the long distance trains are running hours behind schedule. At the same time, vehicles are forced to crawl on the roads, so if you are planning to travel somewhere on the weekend, it is better to postpone it for now. On the other hand, air pollution in Delhi-NCR has also made life difficult. On Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 5 am, AQI was recorded above 400 in Anand Vihar (420) and Wazirpur (413) areas of Delhi.
