Strawberry Care In Winters: Strawberry cultivation is a profitable deal but it is very important to take care of it in winters, otherwise the crop may get damaged. Dr. Abhishek gave information about this. By taking care of small things, the fruiting will be good and the plants will remain safe even in cold.
Strawberry is called a winter fruit. In winter, its sowing starts from the month of October, which continues till the beginning of the month of December. At present, strawberry crop has been planted in the fields and now the farmers have started the work of taking care of the plants.
Experts say that even the slightest mistake in maintenance can ruin the crop badly. In such a situation, farmers must keep some things in mind. Dr. Abhishek Pratap Singh, senior scientist of Agricultural Science Center located in Madhopur of the district, has shared special information on this.
According to Abhishek, the biggest feature of strawberry is its short crop cycle. Plants start bearing fruits in about two months after transplantation. The interesting thing is that once the fruits start coming, harvesting continues for 2 to 3 months. Its price in the market usually ranges from Rs 150 to Rs 300 per kg.

Now let us talk about the aspects to be kept in mind in farming. Strawberry is a cold weather crop. For this, the temperature between 20 to 30 degrees Celsius is considered best. However, by using mulching method and farming in polyhouse, you can keep it safe at a temperature less than 15 degrees Celsius.
Keep in mind that sandy loam soil is considered most suitable for strawberry cultivation. Minimize use of chemicals for farming, and use organic matter like vermicompost. Not only this, keep removing branches and diseased parts of the plants regularly.
Although there are a total of 600 varieties of strawberry across the world, but in Bihar, down winter is considered best for its cultivation. This variety can flourish easily in the climate and soil of Bihar. A little care leads to good income and farmers get huge profits by getting good prices in the market.
