Gumla: Gumla district of Jharkhand is one of the tribal dominated areas of Jharkhand. There are no big industries, railways, factories etc. here. Most of the population here is dependent on agriculture. In such a situation, many youth here are migrating to other states in search of better employment. However, in the meantime, Abul Ansari, a farmer from a remote village in Gumla district, has emerged as a source of inspiration for the people who have migrated by using their hobby as a source of income.
Abul Ansari believes that instead of migrating, you can earn good income in the field of agriculture through your hard work. For his hobby, Abul Ansari has planted peas through organic farming in only 80 decimal land. He is expected to earn a profit of Rs 90 thousand from this pea cultivation.
Let us tell you that farmer Abul Ansari is a resident of Kotam in Gumla district. His main profession is cold selling, but due to his love for farming, he is earning good income with just a little hard work. Farmer Abul Ansari told Local 18 that he has been fond of farming since childhood. This hobby arose in him after seeing others doing farming. Farming is not his main profession, as his hobby, he planted peas in 80 decimal land in the month of September and got good yield of peas.
Not only this, till now he has plucked and sold peas three-four times from the crop planted once. Even after this, these pea plants are still ready to bear fruit. According to Abul, the pea crop is ready in about 3 months after planting. If someone cultivates it as a hobby then he can earn good income from it. Apart from this, the people here will not have to go out for employment. If you work for 2-4 hours even as a hobby, you can earn good income.
On the other hand, if someone cultivates peas or any seasonal vegetable as a business, he can earn even better money. Abul also told that apart from peas, he has also planted cabbage and is going to plant garlic and onion very soon. Talking about earnings, Abul estimates that he will earn around Rs 90 thousand in one season.
Regarding his farming, Abul told that he has cultivated peas by adopting organic method. Only cowdung manure has been used in this. No chemical fertilizer has been used. Pea cultivation done through organic method has yielded good fruits and the taste is also quite wonderful. This is the reason why nearby people are buying their peas immediately. Initially Abul sold it at Rs 120 per kg, but now that the rate has come down a bit, he is selling it at Rs 90 per kg. They don’t even have to go to the market to sell peas; people come home and buy peas.
