Avesh Qadri, a resident of Mirzapur Badoi, told Local 18 that his family has been involved in carpet making for many generations. He has his own factory in Mirzapur, where carpets are prepared in the traditional way. It takes about a week to 10 days for a carpet to be ready.
Rich variety of 3D, cashmere and silk carpets
Many varieties of 3D carpet, Kashmiri carpet and silk carpet are available at Avesh Qadri’s stall. Local people know them as carpet, carpet and galecha. Due to their design, color and finishing, they have a distinct identity in the market.

Avesh told that he himself looks after the work of making carpet. Many artisans and women are also associated with them in this work, due to which the local people are getting employment. Every carpet is made with utmost care and attention to detail.

At present, Avesh Qadri has set up his stall in the Art Center and Ghadi Chowk of Ambikapur. Bedside runner carpet is in highest demand here, especially in cold weather.

Avesh Qadri told that his carpets are not limited to Chhattisgarh or India only. Their products are supplied to many parts of the country as well as to Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and London, due to which Mirzapur carpets are getting international recognition.

The demand for carpet increases significantly during cold weather. During this period their sales reach Rs 10 thousand to Rs 20 thousand or more.

Avesh Qadri has studied till 10th class and has been managing this business himself for the last 5 years. Currently, he stays in Ambikapur for the entire 12 months and provides carpets to the customers all the time as per their requirement.
