What did the encounter specialist of Delhi Police say?
Negi says, ‘We started investigating this case. The first challenge before us was who is the killer and how to find him? Saranpal Kohli used to work in stock. Therefore, first of all started interrogating the people working with him. We suspected that Saranpal Kohli and his family might have been murdered by someone who had friendly entry into the house. No evidence of coercion was found anywhere inside the house. During interrogation, it was revealed that his two employees Ram Pal Singh Chauhan and Parminder Singh had good relations with Saranpal. Interrogating other people and other employees also revealed their relationship. After this we detained both of them.
Who murdered Saranpal Kohli and his family?
According to Negi, ‘The statement was changing repeatedly during both the police interrogations. We came to know that Saranpal Kohli, who worked for the two arrested persons, was suspected of having a lot of money. However, when we searched Saranpal’s shares, we did not find anything like this. But, a purse was found in the deceased’s pocket at the spot, which was not his. Then I thought who is the person who has put the purse in Saranpal’s pocket? After all, what was his purpose? We came to know that that purse is made in Ghaziabad. Somehow the company of the purse was traced.
Old parents said goodbye to the world after getting justice
Negi says, ‘When we reached the warehouse of that purse in Ghaziabad, we came to know that the father of an arrested person, Rampal, works in that warehouse. His father had kept the purse himself instead of depositing it in the warehouse. Her son started using the same purse. This provided another proof. Meanwhile, the fingerprints at the crime scene were also matched to the fingerprints of both the accused. Then we recovered the chopper weapon which was used in the killing.
Negi said that the court had then said that there was no direct evidence. Because of this, the court released the accused by giving him the benefit of doubt. Later this case was handed over to CBI. Statements of 11 witnesses were recorded in this trial that lasted for more than two years. But, the defense argued that there are many contradictions in the charge sheet. Ram Pal Singh Chauhan and Parminder Singh were released. For many years, the case of Saranpal Singh Kohli’s father Har Charan Singh Kohli versus Delhi Police continued. This matter remains a mystery even today. Now even Har Charan Singh Kohli passed away from this world while searching for the murderer of his son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren.
