Patna. Patna district administration has taken a big decision to ban coaching institutes conducting physical training in the historical Gandhi Maidan of the capital. With immediate effect, the administration has banned all those coaching academies which were conducting training on a large scale for physical preparation for Inspector, Police, Army and other competitive examinations. The district administration says that due to this the condition of the ground and track was continuously deteriorating, regarding which many complaints were received.
According to the district administration, Gandhi Maidan will be open to the general public for the purpose of morning walk, exercise and stroll. To avoid any kind of trouble to the common citizens, no ban has been imposed on individual running or exercising. But, coaching institutes which provide physical training to a large number of students in an organized manner will no longer be allowed in Gandhi Maidan.
Advice given by JP Ganga Path
The administration has advised coaching institutes and students to conduct physical training in JP Ganga Path and Ganga bank areas as an alternative arrangement. The administration believes that there is enough space there and the pressure on Gandhi Maidan will also be reduced, due to which the ground and track can be kept safe.
Students’ opinion: The decision is right but also difficult.
Opinions of boys and girls preparing for physical appear to be divided regarding this decision. Some students say that the condition of Gandhi Maidan has really deteriorated and if such steps are not taken, the grounds and track may become completely unusable in the future. In such a situation, the decision of the administration is right from one point of view. However, many students also put forward their problems. Students say that they manage to run somehow, but face a lot of difficulty in high jump and other technical exercises. Due to sand on the banks of Ganga, exercises cannot be done properly and there is a risk of injury. Apart from this, the problem of time and resources is also coming to the fore.
Demand to provide other grounds
Students and people associated with coaching say that mere ban is not the solution. If the administration provides other sports grounds or sports tracks in Patna for thousands of students preparing for competitive exams, then this decision will prove to be more effective and beneficial. The students argue that apart from Gandhi Maidan, there are only a few places in the city where physical training can be done safely. Some students also said that the number of coaching institutes at Gandhi Maidan had increased excessively, which increased the pressure on the Maidan. If it was limited and controlled, the situation could have been better.
