Sansad LIVE Updates: The government introduced ‘Sustainable Harnessing of Atomic Energy for Transforming India (SHANTI) Bill’ in the Lok Sabha, discussion on which has started. Apart from this, discussion on ‘Developed India-Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural) i.e. VB-Ji Ram Ji Bill, 2025’ is also proposed in the House.
The opposition has expressed objection regarding these bills. Congress MP KC Venugopal said that the opposition wants these bills to be sent to the Standing Committee or Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) so that they can be considered in detail. He also stressed that such important bills should be discussed in depth by giving sufficient time.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla assured the House that there will be a long and comprehensive discussion on these bills and if necessary, the proceedings can be continued till night. At the same time, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the government is ready to give sufficient time for discussion and a special discussion demanded by the opposition will also be held.
