Grow Strawberry At Home: Along with traditional vegetables, the popularity of fruits like strawberry is increasing rapidly in Jharkhand and Bihar. People in cities as well as rural areas have started gardening in kitchen gardens and on rooftops. Being rich in nutrition and tasty, strawberry has become a favorite of children and adults alike. This is the reason why now people are showing interest in growing it at home instead of buying it from the market. Let us know how it can be grown at home.

At the same time, if you want to grow strawberries at home then it is not a difficult thing. It can be grown easily by providing suitable soil, adequate sunlight and right amount of water. Strawberry, rich in Vitamin C, antioxidants and minerals, is also considered very beneficial for health.
Choosing the right place for the strawberry plant is most important. It needs light morning sunlight and good air. Choose a place where you can get 4–6 hours of sunlight. The plant may become weak in too strong sunlight or shade.
To grow strawberries, you can buy small plants or stolons (runners) from nurseries. If you want, you can grow a plant from seeds also, but it takes more time. For beginners, it is considered easier to grow from saplings or runners. He said that the plants of Winter Dawn variety are especially good in Palamu area.

The pot for strawberries should be at least 8–10 inches deep. Grow bags can also be used. The soil should be light, fertile and well drained. Soil pH is considered most suitable between 5.5 to 6.5.
Prepare a mixture of sand, cow dung manure and fertile soil. Plant the plant at a depth of 2–3 inches and ensure that the roots are well covered. Keep a distance of 20–30 cm between each plant, so that they get enough space to grow.
Use home made cow dung manure, green manure or vermi compost for plants. Give light fertilizer once a month. Do not apply too much fertilizer at the time of fruit appearance. In case of insect infestation, spray neem oil or organic insecticide. Strawberry starts bearing fruits 60 to 90 days after planting. Break the fruit only when it turns completely red and feels slightly soft. With proper care, home-grown strawberries are not only delicious but also completely safe.
