Himachal News: Out of total 6 players of the Indian team, 3 were from Himachal Pradesh, promising girl students performed brilliantly in China, after returning home from China, these daughters were given a grand welcome in Shimla. All three players are residents of Shimla district.
Shimla. 3 daughters of Himachal have once again brought glory to the country and the state on the international platform. 3 daughters of Himachal took part in the 6-member team playing for India in the Under-15 World Volleyball Championship held in China from 9 to 13 December. Even though the team could not win any medal, these three proved their talent with their strong performance. The most important thing is that 3 out of 6 players of the Indian team were from Himachal.
Actually, Khyati Dhanta, resident of Dhar village of Jubbal in Shimla district, Preeti from Pudag village of Kotkhai in Shimla district and Riya from Rajgarh area of Sirmaur district took part in this international competition.
On their return home from China, a special program was organized in the honor of these three girl students at the Directorate of School Education, Shimla on Monday. School Education Director Ashish Kohli was present in this program. Ashish Kohli welcomed the girl students and wished them a bright future. These three players are students of Thakur Ramlal Sports Hostel, Jubbal of the State School Education Department.

Khyati Dhanta told News 18 that the inspiration to play volleyball came from her father and aunt. Khyati’s father has been a national and aunt has been an international volleyball player. He said that the coach helped a lot in improving the game, now it is his dream to continue playing for the country. Preeti said that her father always encouraged her for sports. His father used to feed him since childhood. Riya told that her father has also been a player and mother has been a Kho-Kho player along with volleyball. She said that she has reached this position with the support of her parents.
Success comes only through hard work and dedication
All three players said in one voice that success is achieved only through hard work and dedication. Also appealed to the youth to stay away from drugs. On this occasion, School Education Director Ashish Kohli said that Himachal Pradesh is continuously progressing in the field of sports, the state government is committed to providing better facilities to the players. He said that the state government has increased the diet money of players from Rs 120 to Rs 250. Last year, Himachal players won 33 medals at the national level and this year a target has been set to win more than 40 medals. Kohli said that sports are a powerful medium for the all-round development of children. Through sports, students stay away from drugs and negative tendencies and move towards discipline and a positive life.

Praising Sports Hostel Director Balwant Jhota, all the hostel staff and all the physical teachers for this achievement, the Director said that Himachal Pradesh is continuously moving ahead in the field of sports. He said that the state government is committed to providing better sports facilities to the students studying in schools and to give a modern, scientific and professional form to the sports infrastructure and is making continuous efforts in this direction. On this occasion, SDPO Santosh Chauhan, who served as a referee in the international volleyball competition, was also honored.
